Our Music Video - Draft One
This is the first draft of our music video. As we had a tight deadline to meet for the Expressive Arts Evening, the video had to be done as soon as possible so therefore we just need to add a few changes to the video and re-sync one or two parts. Hope you enjoy the video for now!

JLS Are Similar to Us!
'Eyes Wide Shut' is the latest music video by JLS which has just been released almost a month after we produced our own. I was watching it on TV when I identified that it features the same narrative of our video where four boys dream about being with the same girl just like our video consists of four girls fantasizing about being with the same boy. The only difference is that our video has a bit of a twist where each girl has shared an intimate encounter with the boy, whereas JLS all remain in dream world imagining the girl. I was amazed to see that a professional and established band have a similar concept to ours, which shows that our narrative is realistic. Check out their video below!

Video Premiere!
Today our videos got showcased at an Expressive Arts Evening being held at our school. The audience consisted of families and pupils varying from all ages and adults. Our target audience is mainly young girls, preferably in their teens and young adults. Although we experienced technical issues at first, our video managed to get shown and we felt very proud of our video considering the amount of time we had to edit it! There are only about 2 parts that need re-syncing due to the tight deadline that we had to meet. The general reaction of the audience after the video had been played was very overwhelming as there was such a buzz! We also handed out questionnaires to the audience to fill in for feedback. After collating the questionnaires, it became apparent that the majority of people liked our music video and most people gave us 8-9/10 for it. To know that we'd achieved positive feedback for our first draft for our video was very pleasing as it took a lot of hard work to create.

Post Production - Editing in Process
Last week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we continued editing our video. We stayed behind each of these days after school until about 5.00 pm to get some editing done as we have a tight deadline to meet next week. We encountered an issue at first as we didn't have any sound or audio tracks with our clips. However, we resolved this issue as we logged onto another Mac which responded well to our clips and played the audio. So far, we have managed to edit one minute of our video which we are very pleased with! We've edited the beginning of the classroom scene and the girls singing the 1st verse in their individual locations.
I've learnt how to reduce the clips down to frames and delete frames which we do not require. Also, I've learnt how to extend a clip to make it longer when being played which is vital, particularly for the meeting of the girl and Ally to add emphasis on their moment in the video. This is important as the audience need to understand the narrative. I've also learnt how to add transitions and special effects which will be appealing for the audience and reinforce the dream aspect of our video.To do this we added a white transformation for when the girls drift off into dream more and when they return back to reality. We also used special effects for when each girl sings in their individual locations after the photograph has been shown e.g. there is a fade from when the still photograph of me and Ally is shown, to me singing in the location of where we met to show how I cannot let go of this place because of the memory it holds of me and Ally. Another example of special effects would be when Vanessa is singing and there is a wipe of her shot across the screen to the photograph of Sam and Ally which shows how Ally has seeing other girls and thus Vanessa is now both literally and metaphorically, out of the picture.
Despite the snow disruptions we feel as though we have achieved a lot in this past week. Next week we will do the same and stay behind after school and come during our free periods to ensure our video is completed by the deadline.

Editing The Classroom Scene
During todays lesson, my group started to edit our footage. We used the software Adobe Premiere on the Apple Mac. Our first scene is the classroom scene, so we started to edit that by choosing our establishing shot and how we are going to incorporate the close-ups of each of the four girls to show their boredom. At first we had to cut down the amount of footage we had and chose to keep the bits that we felt had good angles and shots. We did this by creating a list where we noted down footage that we wanted to keep and as we did this we deleted footage we didn't need so that it was less time-consuming.
The beginning of our video starts off in the classroom before the song actually starts, so we need to ensure that the establishing sequence is only a few seconds long (approximately 8 secs) to keep the audience engaged. We managed to get quite a lot edited and distinguished between the order of our clips.We sorted out our footage by putting the classroom shots first, followed by Vanessa's, Sam's, my scene and Megi's scene in our individual locations as this is the order in which the lyrics are sung. First Stage of Editing
Today myself, Sarah and Zarah (Saira couldn't make it) stayed behind after school to start the first stages of editing. We went through all of the footage that we had shot by connecting the memory card from the cameras onto the laptop and watched the footage through the software Adobe Premiere. By watching each piece of footage we were able to establish what we'd like to keep and what we'd like to get rid of.
We found that we had shot some really good footage, getting a variety of shots and were pleased with what we'd done. Also, we found that we got good close-ups of the girls showing their intense emotions to match the lyrics. As the song has parts where it is instrumental, we are going to incorporate these close-ups during these parts to show continuity throughout the video as the close-ups are of the girls in their location of where they met the boy they like.
Sarah filmed some floor shots which unfortunately didn't come out as we'd at first anticipated. This is because they showed the ceiling and surroundings of the theatre which would've ruined our video. Therefore we had to erase this footage. Our next stage of editing will be deleting other pieces of footage that we don't want (which we noted down) and then start to edit the actual footage we are going to keep. Watch this space!
