Above you can see a brainstorm I did of what I think the initial themes for the song are. I went home and really analysed the lyrics in order to understand the message that Kat Deluna is getting across, which helped me to form my brainstorm. From the lyrics you can see that the song is about love, romance and a girl being emotionally attached to a boy. She is reassuring the boy that she will be always be there and is in a sense in control as she says: "Make you the king of my heart, if you forever stay true to me". This challenges the stereotype of women being weaker, inferior and vulnerable compared to men because Kat then goes on to sing: If I leave you breathless, then I'll be the air you need" which shows that the girl is in control because the boy needs to rely on her in order to survive. The lyrics "Just when you think your by yourself, turn around, cos' I'm right there" reinforce this, as the girl is confirming that whenever the boy is lonely she will always be there. We also decided to do this song as it shows female independence which is conveyed through the lyrics. The part where it says "I'ma be there x6" is also sang quite angrily, which portrays the female being in control and rather dominant.
